Robert Kouba was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He began making short films at the age of 9 after he borrowed a video-camera from his grandfather. At the age of 12 Kouba's science-fiction short film "Xenopia" was accepted at a local film festival. It told a story of an ambassador trying to reconcile two civilizations on different planets at war with each other. The visual effects were created by Kouba himself on a home-computer. After graduating from the SAE Institute's filmmaking program in 2012, Robert Kouba directed, wrote and produced various short films, commercials and music videos such as The Rift 2012, Population Zero 2013 and Caer 2016 many of which had viral successes on the internet.
