Jarrell's musical career started in Fredericksburg, Virginia. During the 1970's, he was a member of Dick Dale and the Deltones. He was the lead singer for the Spiral Starecase for a while, and toured with Donna Fargo as a backup singer. He was the musical director for the 1999 PBS special "Rock and Roll Graffiti."
