In Hollywood, the term overnight sensation is typically an inflated definition of a suddenly famous celebrity however, for 10-year-old Devin Bright, the gifted breakout star had already been on course to be the next sensation at pint-size age of 7. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, Bright was a shy fella. To help him overcome his shyness and gain confidence, at three years old, his parents signed him up for an acting class at "Charlotte's Children's Theatre." What they did not expect was his natural desire for the spotlight so they enrolled him in classes at "Acting Out Studio" where he focused more on film and television. From there, he participated in a program called "Talent Inc." where he competed in numerous modeling, acting and talent competitions winning first place in his age category for talent. In the audience were several talent agencies, judging the competition however, it was the J Pervis Talent Agency that took a special interest in Bright, and after much thought, his parents agreed it was the right fit for their son. With the natural ability to steal the hearts of many, the mini-star soon landed his first national show through the agency, appearing in HGTV's webisode Toddler vs. Toddler starring Brother vs. Brother and Property Brothers stars Drew and Jonathan Scott. Just one year later, he's starring alongside Hollywood seasoned actors Jon Voight, Lance E. Nichols, and Sherri Shepherd, in the upcoming Erwin Brothers (October Baby, Mom's Night Out) film Woodlawn where Bright's character Cedric Nathan-the younger brother of the main character, Tony Nathan (Caleb Castille), the son of Momma Nathan (Sherri Shepherd) and Junior (Lance E. Nichols)-is learning about the world and race relations in 1970s America. For Bright, being on set and working with seasoned actors and directors was priceless. "The directors I've worked with have been great," he exclaimed. "They all helped me to improve my acting and they made my time on set enjoyable and Jon and Andrew really helped me tap into my emotions during the scenes." He also said that the one thing he learned from the actors was that "you can be famous and still be nice and kind to people." When asked why he liked his character, Cedric Nathan, Bright answered vehemently, "I'm happy to be a part of this film and to be playing this character because it shows what can happen when people come together and what can happen when God is part of what you do." What's so amazing about Bright is that even though he's a kid who loves kid things - he enjoys playing tag with friends, his favorite place is Disney World, he plays soccer, football, basketball and baseball and enjoys watching the animated television series, Peppa Pig-he's well-rounded, wise beyond his years and has accomplished so much in such a short time. He's been studying Tae Kwon Do for over three years and tested for his black belt in August 2015, and he has two favorite bible scriptures: "Do not be afraid for I am with you" (Isaiah 43:5) and "Children, obey your parents in all things for this is well pleasing to the Lord" (Colossians 3:20) - certainly not your typical 7-year-old. No longer a wide-eyed kindergartener but not yet a worldly middle-schooler, the young thespian displays a formidable sense of adventure and thirst for information with a strong sense of morals and fairness. Exuding humility and compassion, when asked, "If you could give one gift to every single child in the world, what gift would you give?", Bright emphatically replied, "A picture of the sun so even on a cold day they can feel warm." The epitome of an emerging actor who happens to be a classically trained pianist - he's learning to read and write music and desires to play like John Legend in addition to learning gospel songs-Devin Bright is poised to seize many opportunities on the horizon and is excited about what's to come. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Devin Bright
