Lili Bordán stars as Warner Bros. story editor Irene Lee in director Tamas Yvan Topolanszky's Curtiz, an upcoming biographical film she helped to produce about Casablanca director Michael Curtiz, set to premiere in competition at the Montreal World Film Festival. She also stars as Marta in the much anticipated The Nun, and is featured as the character Irene in the recent Paramount feature Book Club, starring Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda and Mary Steenburgen, and Candice Bergen. Bordán was born in New York City, the daughter of Hungarian film star Irén Bordán (The Debt, Mephisto). Lili attended Sarah Lawrence College, where she studied history, literature and theater. Post graduation, she moved to Hungary and became part of a children's theater troupe, where she learned that kids really are the most challenging audience to please. She also performed with the Prague Fringe Festival and some repertory companies in Budapest. Returning to the States, she moved to Los Angeles and joined Moth Theatre Company, and her performance in Moth's production of David Hare's The Blue Room won her a Scenie Award for "best featured actress in a drama or intimate play." On the big screen, her award-winning American feature Cherry, directed by Quinn Saunders, was in competition at the Karlovy Vary festival, and later picked up at Cannes for distribution by Warner Brothers. Bordán would later work with Saunders again on Apparition, where she played the lead opposite Katrina Law in a role that won Bordán her Best Actress honors at the 2017 North American Film Awards. Bordán has played a broad range of characters in different genres, including the mysterious Becca Kelly in Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome, the deceptive and dangerous German security officer Hannah Strauss on ABC's The River, and Virginia Madsen's fun hippie sister in Walt Disney's American Girl: Grace Stirs up Success. Bordán's additional feature credits include Munich, Joy Division, The Moon and the Stars, The Smoke, The Martian, Live or Die in La Honda, Welcome to Curiosity, Regarding the Case of Joan of Arc, and more recently, Beneath the Leaves opposite Doug Jones (The Shape of Water). A recurring role on the hit BBC series Silent Witness and Robin Hood as well as the lead in popular UK film The smoke introduced her to British audiences.
